Meal Planning

Meal planning puts your recipes on a calendar so you know what you're cooking and when.

Meals

A meal is one entry on a date — for example "Tuesday dinner." Each meal has:

  • A date.
  • A meal type: breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or snack.
  • One or more recipes attached to it (a dinner might be a main plus a side).

You can view meals by week or by month to see the plan at a glance.

Who's eating: servings

For each meal you can record servings — which household members are eating it. This does two things: it helps you scale quantities, and it lets RecipesByScott track nutrition per serving for each person over time.

From plan to groceries

Once the week is planned, turn it into groceries — see Shopping lists, which can pull the ingredients straight from the recipes you've planned.
